Gun Safety and NOT Gun Control! Is the U.S. the next Australia?

By on December 24, 2012

Gun safety should be the priority and not gun control; however, these unsophisticated politicians are hitching their wagons to the stupidity train and are attempting to win voting points by spoon-feeding the gullible bullshit.

The politicians wanting to ban firearms are ignorant to the facts and refuse to understand the bottom line. And the bottom line is this; I can put a fully loaded M50  on my kitchen table and it will NOT jump up and start shooting.

Democrat NY Governor Cuomo (who wants to be president and God help us) would like to introduce legislation for Gun Confiscation! Cuomo probably never shot a gun in his life; however, when traveling he (like the president) is protected my men with guns. The hypocrisy.

Watch the video and any person (except simple-minded politicians) will conclude that if your gun is taken away crime will sky-rocket and only the bad guy will have guns!

One last point! Why are liberals and Democrats against guns, but for abortion?

Its the same in Australia, most gun deaths are drug and gang related. It doesn’t normally effect regular people. The problem you have now is the US government arranging massacres so they can get automatic guns banned.

I appreciate that that might be the case in Australia. But we are not Australia. In the US we had an assault weapons ban, and during it’s 10 years we still had mass shootings. Columbine, Atlanta, etc. Didn’t slow down one bit, much less stop. Statistics are what they are. And they can be manipulated. But we had our ban, and it failed. The next one will as well. I’ll remind you, it’s already against the law to kill people. But they die any way.

One person should be able to have a hand gun or shotgun, hunting rifle in their home, but you don’t need an AK-47, or other semi automatic guns, it’s just too easy to kill groups of people with them.

But to make a fair comparison, what’s the estimated number of guns in the UK and the estimate rate of usage? Also note, the UK has more crime than the US: More Assaults, Bribery, Rapes and more drug offenses with 25% of people being crime victims (1/4) versus 20% (1/5) in the US. Fact: 99.997% of US firearms do not kill anyone. Fact: In ~92% of defensive uses the criminal aborts his crime when confronted with an armed victim. The Wright-Rossi survey of prison inmates found: 57% fear armed citizens more than police; 74% say they avoid occupied homes for fear of being shot; 40% said they were deterred because they thought the victim might be armed. Comparing the UK to the USA is misleading. UK reporting standards omit significant numbers of crimes.

That is not a “no ammo at home” restriction, it is because the ammo at the range is govt subsidized, and thus artificially CHEAP. this is so because the swiss govt pays most of the cost in order that the people will PRACTICE, as opposed to simply shooting a few rounds and hoarding the rest.

When discussing crime, suicide figures don’t count as that is a psycho-sociological problem not a legislative one. That 35,000 figure you stated is actually, 29,422 (still too high) but that’s 81/day or 6935 less. If we remove the suicides the figure is 9655 or only 26 a day. That’s a big difference.

On the government side, they’d have maybe 2-3 million, not all of whom can be in combat (cooks, clerks…) 10:1 odds. Armor? Aircraft? There won’t be enough. Cancer & Heart disease claim over 1M per year. At 1/4 the car deaths and 1/3 of falls, gun homicides are well down the list of priorities. The stat about friends/relatives is misleading. Actually, No. A survey in the late 80′s tells us 87% of gun owners own them for practical uses (self-defense, hunting), 10% strictly for target or recreational shooting and 3% for other reasons. Overall, 69% ascribe to the “fight against tyranny” concept and 13% did not, others were undecided. “Cost to life” assumes cost-justification. What is the cost of lost liberty – to live under an oppressive tyrant like Stalin, Pol Pot, Idi Amin?

What a load of sh!t, You can still own a hand-gun, just not semi-automatics and shotguns. There’s lots of other factors behind this sort of things to happen.

@Bill C you are so right, if people would only open their eyes. This is exactly why governments want a ban, because they realize the people could overthrow effortlessly if we are armed. Take away firearms and ban now its just them shooting fish in a barrel.

Sadly, some of our crime stats can be misleading. Knowing how is important. So too the UK which tends to downgrade the severity of many crimes. In truth, American crime is finally getting as low as it was in 1969. Safer here overall than the U.K. My objection is people like you would deprive my 82 y/o mother of her Hi-Power and make her live in fear of strangers. Citizens own guns. Subjects, serfs and slaves do not. FN products are good, but I’m really a revolver guy. :)

I don’t really like guns, they can make problems but they can also save lives. America must watch out and stand up for they’r rights, criminals can always get guns.

It can’t happen to me; I’ll be DEAD before I surrender my firearms. Further, I absolutely REFUSE to have any part of the enforcement of such a law.

They will not take our guns! We as law abiding citizens will soon become outlaws if they think they can take our guns. I will not be a victim!

I live in the UK. I would NOT want to see guns available to every citizen over here. We have a largely unarmed police force and are the better for it. Gun crime is a relative rarity in my country. However, if I was living in the US I think it would be irresponsible NOT to carry a gun. The situation is too far gone to go to a non-armed citizenry. You must be allowed to defend yourself when all the crooks are armed. That’s a no-brainer

Many people in America do not have the mental capacity to understand how to use a gun. That’s the whole problem with your Country. The 2nd Amendment allows anyone to own a gun and not be accountable.

Thats ignorant firstname there are hundreds of millions of firearms here and hundreds of millions of gun owners so id say the ratio is pretty good for legal gun owners to gun deaths

Well that’s brilliant. Spoken like a true scholar. How can you speak about things going on in a country you don’t live in? I own numerous firearms and guess what? I’ve only used them responsibly. Here is what you don’t understand. With RIGHTS come RESPONSIBILITIES. When a nation becomes irresponsible then the gov’t is forced to take away their rights. People like yourself just hand your rights over…….but that’s ok. Some people can’t handle rights and freedom.

Oh yeah? How about the UK now wanting to ban the carrying of knives? You Europians will never get it. A gun is merely a tool. You can’t cure “evil intent.” “All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.” You of all people should know that quote! They take away guns and knive violence goes up 60% Now they want to ban knives. What’s next? Bricks? Can guns be used to commit violence? Yes. Can guns be used to prevent it? Absolutely.

Here in the United States we understand that with individual rights come individual responsibilities. We also understand that we should be holding the individual responsible instead of the tool he uses to commit a crime. We don’t do things here for the “collective” good. I should not be penalized for the actions of another individual. I own guns and have never used them in any manner other then responsibly.
