SCIFAKE DISCOVERS: TAPS family P.N. Group has a sexual offender on board and J. Hawes GOES berserk!
Scifake (Ron Tebo) reaches out to Hawes and Griffith for help and both immediately accommodate!
Today Scifake received an anonymous tip (as we do on several occasions) about a sexual offender who is guising himself as a paranormal investigator. And get this …the group that he belongs to is part of the TAPS Family. OUCH!
I Immediately phoned Jason Hawes (TAPS) and told him about my authenticated information and his reaction was that of disgust and nauseation! Seriously folks, Hawes was exasperated and bowled over! Being a father, Hawes (like me) was repelled and horrified. Knowing my background, (www.findingbutch.com) he asked me how could this happen and what can we (TAPS) do to prevent this from happening in the future. I told him background checks of ALL Taps Family members should be implemented instantaneously and without further hesitation.He agreed and before I knew it Hawes swiftly got Britt Griffith on the phone. I’m not kidding folks for this was lighting fast and unexpected!
Knowing the urgency of this situation, Mr Hawes phoned Britt Griffith (TAPS Family Manager) and we all spoke three way. Yes, Britt, Hawes and Tebo (scifake) talking on the same line; however, we spoke as parents and not as nemesis. After all …were are fathers first and adversaries second!!! Britt (as Jason and I) was grossed out and knew something needed to be done forthwith.
Folks this is not about Scifake, TAPS or fakery …this is about protecting our children from harm and I am asking ALL to restrain from brainless comments.
Reach into your soul and let’s put our differences aside and stop this madness and let’s take back our children. The police can only do so much and we as parents need to take control today!!!

Just to think of someone with TAPS family log backing them while they size up how they are going to steal your baby is so frightening..gett’em guys its really up to you all to take this responsibility as men, protect us…

Good work, Ron! I like the way Hawes got right on it. Now days almost all employers do criminal background checks. I know TAPS is not an employer per se but their people do go into homes, some of which have young children. In fact, this is true of any investigative group.
Sorry to say but it’s really such a changed world we live in. Kudos to you and Hawes for pursuing this immediately.

Was waiting for this to come up. Don’t see how I can affect anything as the team I work with is strictly by ONLINE basis, considering they are in Scotland and I am in the United States. I Do Not go on investigations, and when I was with a local team, I quit when Ron brought out his first article on sexual offenders. It has been years since my offense Ron, I have a family and can appreciate you getting the word out on all sexual offenders in the community.

I give you credit for coming forward and talking about this sensitive subject. Unlike other offenders we have written about you are the FIRST offender to EVER come forward and support our cause.
Also, I’m glad you understand our cause and concern. As you, many here are parents and protecting our children is priority.

So I will be civil in return, although I do bite my tounge here as this subject hits very close to home
As a parent we can not always protect our children from the real monsters out there,
cause even if you lock every door, they are bound to find an unlocked window
Heres hoping that Jason and Brett are going to really take action now- we can’t take chances with our kids- cause once that monster strikes you can’t get that part back EVER!

I’ve been coming here for a long time Ron, still get email updates from here. I don’t expect anyone to become friendly with me, nor do I expect anyone to forgive my past mistakes. This is a growing issue in the community and needs to be nipped. Public info is there for a reason. And as I have mentioned in the past, Sexual offenders aren’t the only ones who have been excepted into the TAPS Family via Brent.

I have contacted you Via email in the past dealing with Brent telling Potential TFM teams that their past criminal offenses did not matter. I have also contacted members of the TAPS family that said they were trying to fix these issues. There are other TFM’s with histories of theft on large scale and such. When I asked Brent about my offense being an issue, I was told that it would not be a problem. How many others do you think heard the same thing?

William, thanks for being man enough to come forward and speak. We do not know the details of the offense but the issue is that there is an offense. We at TAPS “The Main Team” check all of our people out. As for the TAPS family groups, this needs to be enforced with them to do as well. We just need to remember that we are sending in other groups to help out families that call us “TAPS’ in to their homes. We can not in good conscience send in someone with a charge of any sort, “especially this” into someones home. I hope you understand what we are saying. Ron and me may disagree on a lot of things, but we stand strong on this matter. I either need you to step down now from the team your with or I need to remove the TAPS family group you belong to all together.
If you do know anything about others in the TAPS family we of course would greatly appreciate it and will investigate it promptly.
Of course having so many TAPS family groups out there is a positive thing but we need to find a way of having them police themselves and share their information with us prior to becoming a TAPS family member. This is something that Ron and I have spoken many times in the past about. This shows the importance of the mater.

I am one of your taps family clients I truly am alarmed at the thought that there were no existing checks and balances with in the Family- how do I know that the team you guys sent me was sex offender free?
I don’t and although I had my girls stay elsewhere during the investigation what about those clients that keep their kids there? This is a huge issue and I hope that
you all at Taps do some major changes to help guarantee that there isnt an offender among the family- Its too big of an issue to not shout about and would hope you use your connections in the media to make even more aware

Nothing like taking one for the Team I guess. Jason you may remember me better as RCPS-Bill.TFM-Wisconsin, If you don’t, that is not really a matter to me. I can send you a message via your email if it hasn’t changed since I left RCPS close to a year ago or so. As for removing me from the team, I haven’t an issue with that. I am contacting them now.

We don’t enjoy bringing hardship or pain to anyone; however, this is something that hits close to home for many and it cannot be overlooked.
Like you we are parents and Jason is correct, we do not know the FULL circumstances; however, it’s something that cannot be overlooked or negated.
I do agree with your statement about other crimes (e.g., theft, burglary, etc) should prevent others from being part of the TF.

Paraskep, that is why we are doing this.
We run “TAPS” the TAPS family groups are not “TAPS”. They are their own entities with their own group names. If we bring a group in and then three weeks later they bring in a new member who “without them knowing” has a past with issues we need to figure out a way of finding this out ahead of time. We do not know every member in every group. There are literally thousands and thousands of investigators.
This is not a blame passing game or a “How could you not know that” thing. It is near impossible for “TAPS” to do background checks on every other group out there. We have never had the manpower nor the funds.
Ron and I have spoken about this in the past, “a long time prior to this” on how we can do something like that.
This as Ron can tell you, I brought up to him in the past when he and I have spoken. So it has been a concern of mine for a very long time.
Hope you understand. Every system has flaws, it is understand those flaws and how you repair them to move ahead is what truly matters.

While I may disagree on how the shows are done, on this subject I agree 100%. As a business owner and with the economy the way it is. I receive over 1500 + (sometimes over 5K) resume a week. Working in the medical field we have to be careful who we hire. Fake names, fake companies, and criminal records that you wonder why they are not in jail. Now we check all the social sites also. While they may not be part of the Main Taps it is still part of your image. I have 12 reps who work for me across the US, Canada and UK. Believe me if they mess up, it will be me/the company they remember not the other person. Like you I have people who trash my company and me. So I don’t need any more headaches than what I have now.

This is one of the many, many reasons we don’t allow new members. The members of our team are like family. We have all known each other, and each other’s business for years. I don’t think we could ever trust a total stranger to come onto our team.

The system is in place for a reason. Sexual offenders have to report for life and are never released from the system. Other crimes, people have a chance to complete their time to the system and move on. Some people do jail time and lengthy probation. If they complete their probation, they are released back into society. They are considered by the system rehabilitated. When did it become law that you need to put on a priest collar to be a paranormal investigator? Nobody’s perfect. Sex offenses are horrible things and these things should not be allowed on paranormal teams. If a person is on paper, they should not be allowed on a team either. But if they have served their time and are not on paper, they should be allowed to “rejoin” society. If you stole a candybar as a child from a store, maybe you should step down from your team. Or have everyone point fingers at everyone for the stupid things.

The leader of RCPS Wisc. seems pathologically incapable of composing a blog post without making references to flatulence, bowel movements, defecation etc. and If you go to you-tube and view some of their videos on the RCPS channel, there are several that will serve to illustrate how demented they are …
I seem to remember one video that included the use of profanity and obscene gestures in front of kids as I recall, but as I’m sure it will be hastily removed upon reading this, and as I am not inclined to sift through the volumes of revolting and disgusting videos on the RCPS YouTube; Channel; you simply have my word against that of an organization with a growing reputation for deceptive practices to go by …

I checked out the youtube channel you speak of. I didn’t see anything offensive. I have even seen taps put out videos on the internet that involves farts and toilet humor. Those guys are plumbers so I bet they have some fun with it as well. It all depends on your taste in humor I guess.

When it comes to this we all need to be on the same page…How easy do you think it was for me to tell Jason I respected him for his vigilance against predators in the TAPS Family?…I do feel that this team in particular needs to be looked at closely based on their unprofessional demeanor and now this scandal with having a registered sex offender in their fold that left VOLUNTARILY.

Well like i tell everyone out there that asks me what it takes to become a TFM…i tell them on their website it states that TAPS conducts a check on the groups but in fact they do not …Britt is the one who allowed the group to become a TFM and without conducting an background check. So is it the fault of the groups founder? No ..it’s Britts fault. So if Jason wants to get furious he needs to take it out on his best friend Britt.
Yup as you can tell i have a whole lot of anamosity towards Britt.

Oh and as jason saying it it impossible to conduct a background check ..it is not …we conduct background checks on each person we have and all we require is the fee to conduct the backgound check at their expense before they are placed within the group. if it comes back with any type of felony or yet sex offenders then they are not placed with in the group…and we are starting to do the same thing on other groups before they join together with us. It is the founders responsibilty to check their members out.
Now on that note please note i have a whole lot of repect for Jason and Grant they have done nothing towards me nor my group. heck when we became a TFM my wife and I had lapel pins made up for all the TFM Founders and also have given Jason and Grant one as well, Jason liked them and wrote me on the TFM Board saying “Thanks for the pins they were awesome” and also saying “Thanks for not busting my balls on not being on the board alot”. It was fun being with them but i am relieved that we are no longer apart of the TFM due to the stuff they are going through.
Oh and lastly if Jason sees this please note I have tried everything to get a hold of you and to ask you man to man do you think in your mind and heart that the way my group was removed by Britt was a legit reason.

I have always been rather shocked at the general gullibility of the paranormal community as a whole regarding ghost and demons and psychics – oh my – but watching the gullibility in action about real life things like the safety of self and family is what is Really Shocking.
Who actually believes that television networks and/or production companies actually do background checks for their “reality” shows? I don’t.
You can’t even trust that Psychics are really “psychic”, can you?
Wasn’t there just a guy that participated in some show who later kidnapped and murdered someone?
Didn’t AE state in one of their show intros that Chip Coffey had a Masters Degree in Psychology, only later to remove that statement?
If the power and money of television networks can’t (or won’t, actually) be bothered to do background checks, I certainly wouldn’t suppose piddly po-dunk ghost hunting groups would do so either.
Good thing I don’t believe in ghosts cause I’d never let anyone affiliated with any of these shows into my home.
